The 2007 elections official leaflet
[t9l07] shows essentially the same flag as
before; a very slightly changed logo, with thinner initials, and much thicker
cross and saltire in the background.

This
news photo online shows yet another variant, with thinner, serif "PD"
letters, and medium thick saltire-cross. The location is most authoritative,
behind the party leader and a supported presidential candidate, but variation
is common even within officially issued flags, posters and other material.
António Martins, 07 September 2007
The flag of P.D. is dark blue (though the shade may vary) with a white cross
and a white saltire, both throughout (a British
influence?); overall, the party logo on a white disc. This shows a 3D wooden
poll-box and "PD" in large red letters; arched around this, also in red
letters, "Partido Democrático" above, and "Hanoin -
Hari’i - Hametin" (spelling unsure and meaning unknown by me;
language is undoubtedly Tetum). The ratio seems to be longer than 2:3.

On this photo, posted to Facebook in 2015 by the Max Stahl Centre,a crowd waving flags in East Timor — the national flag and the flag of
Partido Democrático. The latter is showing its illegible reverse.
António Martins, 28 October 2023
According to a political analyst (Adelino Gomes: “A Força da
Bandeira e os Desafios da Vitória” Público
2001.09.07: 3), «What are PD and ASDT,
but different divisions of the same independentist family? »…«
PD as the symbol of a new generation, urban and academic, which, inspired by
Xanana’s ideological aggiornamento, herald of the jointing to the
independentist cause of all sectors of the Timorese society, brought the
struggle torch to the universities in Bali and Java and to the foreign embassies
in Jakarta.»

In the 2007.06.02 elections P.D. got 46 946
votes (11.30%), recieving 8 of 65 seats in the parliament.
António Martins, 07 September 2007
P.D. got 31 680 votes in the 2001.08.30
elections (8,72%), receiving 7 of 88 seats in the parliament — even
if P.D. got only 15% of Fretilin’s result, it
got to be the second party in these elections, closely followed by
P.S.D. and A.S.D.T. P.D.
was created in 2000 by young members of former
Renintil (student resistance). During
the 2001.08 election campaign, historical leader Xanana Gusmão’s
sympathy towards this party was evident. P.D. had the majority of the votes in
one of the 13 districts, Aileu.
